My 5 favourite documentary photographer Instagram accounts to follow

I love Instagram and have found so many incredible photographers in those little squares. So much inspiration from around the world, which I love.

So I thought I would share some of those accounts. There are of course many more that I follow, that inspire, teach and support me and I thank them all.

The Glass Narrator

Karah is a UK based photographer. I think one of the first I came across on Instagram who stopped me in my tracks. Her images are so real and just so brilliant. And she is a master with words! She has always given me advice and help when needed, and for that I am so grateful.

Kirsten Lewis

Kirsten is a documentary photographer over the in the US. Beautiful images and also an incredible teacher. Currently working my way through her CreativeLive course online, which has been so helpful. Her day in the life sessions are something I would love to offer myself in the future.

Sebastiao Salgado

This man. All I can say is WOW!! An incredible photojournalist who has documented so many iconic photos. His film, The Salt of the Earth, shows his work and his life story and seriously moved me. The situations he has seen and documented are phenomenal.

Sarah Mason

Sarah is a UK based photographer and film maker. Her films are truly beautiful and she captures the most beautiful moments. She has inspired me to try switching the camera onto video!! Definitely a work in progress!

Jess Cheetham

Jess is a UK based documentary family photographer. Again she always captures beautiful moments for families and wonderful memories for them. Plus she has been so helpful when I message her randomly asking for advice!

Jo Haycock

And one more!! Jo has been so supportive and inspired me with her in the classroom photos (so much so I did my own!). We sure do have a lot of incredible photographers in the UK! Love seeing her work and the projects she is working on.

Instagram┬áis brilliant, it’s inspiring and a great way to make virtual friends. Take a look at these accounts and let me know which is your favourite.
